AQUEST CORPORATION provided a Pennsylvania woodworking facility a cyclo-/baghouse-type dust collector system. The system replaced an old baghouse that had completely burned. Aquest’s new system was designed to provide initial cyclonic separation to remove most of the incoming wood dust before it reached the self-cleaning bag filters. Collected dust was conveyed via a rotary air lock and material handling fan to a large accumulation silo. Aquest’s system design included a multi-zone spark detection and suppression system designed to detect and eliminate any incoming ignition sources; as well as deflagration relief vents and an inlet isolation damper to minimize damage in case an explosion were to occur, as required by NFPA.
