AQUEST CORPORATION provided a high-vacuum, closed-loop source extractor system to control highly combustible magnesium powder from a state-of-the-art Cold Spray application located in Massachusetts. The high-vacuum system is protected from deflagration via a flameless explosion vent (pictured), which limits flame and dust propagation to the point where the deflagration relief vent can be used indoors. The upstream ductwork is equipped with an ATEX-certified, isolation damper (pictured). The highly efficient dust collector was provided with a self-cleaning cartridge filter, and was designed as a close-loop (i.e. exhausts back into the Cold Spray booth) to recover valuable inert atmosphere (helium). Aquest provided the customer design, equipment and installation.
