AQUEST CORPORATION provided a New England gas and energy utility provider four (4) weld stations equipped with source capture arms and a cartridge-style dust collection system. The dust collector and capture arms were designed to control highly toxic hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] fumes produced when welding stainless steel. The Aquest team designed, supplied and installed the dust collection system with a PLC-linked variable frequency drive (VFD) on the motor / blower to automatically and seamlessly ramp the system flow rate to match the number of source capture arms open at any given time. The system was configured to provide worker protection that exceeds OSHA’s respiratory standard for Cr(VI).
